Removal
NOTE:
Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
Refer to: Jacking and Lifting (100-02 Jacking and Lifting - 2.5L Duratec – Hybrid (121kW/164PS) (BG))

If equipped.
Position aside the electrical connector shield.

If equipped.
Disconnect the electrical connector.
-
If equipped.
-
Use hose clamp pliers to arrest the coolant leak from the hose.
Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp(s)

Release the clamps and remove the hoses from the heat exhanger.

Remove and discard the clamp.
-
Remove the isolator bracket studs and the muffler and tailpipe assembly.
Isolator hanger bracket
NOTE:
The below following step is only necessary if you are replacing the isolator hanger bracket.

NOTE:
Left-hand side shown, right-hand side is similar.
Remove the isolator bracket studs.
Torque:
18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

Detach the isolator and remove the bracket.
Installation
-
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
-
-
Position the muffler and tailpipe assembly in the vehicle and install the isolator bracket studs.
Torque:
18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

NOTE:
Make sure that the clamp is installed to the same orientation as when removed.
NOTE:
Make sure that new clamp is installed.
Install the new clamp.
Torque:
17 lb.ft (23 Nm)

Check the exhaust system for leaks.
-
Check and fill the coolant to the maximum level.

Check the A/C clutch air gap at 3 equally spaced places between the clutch plate and the A/C clutch pulley.
