Ford Escape: Front Seats / Removal and Installation - Front Seat Cushion Cover

Removal

Passenger seat

1. Remove the OCS sensor.
   Refer to: Occupant Classification System (OCS) Sensor (501-20B Supplemental Restraint System, Removal and Installation).
   

Driver seat

1. Remove the front seat.
   Refer to: Front Seat (501-10A Front Seats, Removal and Installation).
   

1. Remove the front seat side shield screws.
   

1. 1. Firmly grasp the front seat side shield, lift up and out, separating the side shield from the recliner bracket.
      
   2. Slide the front seat side shield forward and separate the side shield from the seat.
      

1. Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the front seat side shield.
   

vehicles with heated seats

1. 1. Detach and disconnect the front seat cushion heater mat electrical connector.
      
   2. Detach and disconnect the front seat backrest heater mat electrical connector.
      

Driver seat

1. 1. Detach the front seat backrest cover straps.
      
   2. Position the front seat backrest cover aside.
      

1. 1. Detach the front seat cushion heater mat wiring harness retainer and position aside.
      
   2. Detach the front seat cushion cover J-clips and position the cover aside.
      

1. Remove the front seat cushion cover and foam as an assembly.
   
   1. Detach the cushion cover J-clip.
      
   2. On both sides.
      Detach the cushion cover J-clips.
      

All seats

1. NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.

   1. If equipped with heated seat.
      Route the front seat cushion heater mat wiring harness through the cushion cover.
      
   2. Position the rear portion of the front seat cushion cover from the foam.
      

1. NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.

   
   Remove the front seat cushion cover.
   
   1. Invert the cushion cover.
      
   2. Remove the hog rings.
      

Installation

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
   

1. Use the General Equipment: Hog Ring Plier
