Removal
WARNING:

WARNING:
Always disconnect the battery ground cable at the battery when working on an EVAP
system or fuel-related component. Highly flammable mixtures may be
present and may be ignited. Failure to follow these instructions may
result in serious personal injury.
NOTE:
Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect (414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables, General Procedures).

NOTE:
Do not pull the engine appearance cover forward or
sideways to remove. Failure to pull straight upward on the underside of
the cover at the attachment points may result in damage to the cover or
engine components.

Remove the engine appearance cover nut from the stud bolt.
-
Place your hand under the engine appearance cover at
each grommet location and pull straight up to release each grommet from
the studs.

After all of the grommets have been released from the studs, remove the appearance cover from the engine.

Disconnect the quick release coupling.
Refer to: Quick Release Coupling (310-00C Fuel System - General Information, General Procedures).

Disconnect the electrical connector.

Detach the hose retainers.
-
Remove the EVAP purge valve bracket bolts.
Torque:
53 lb.in (6 Nm)

Disconnect the quick release couplings and remove the EVAP purge valve.

Installation

To install, reverse the removal procedure.

If the engine appearance cover stud bolt is loosened or
removed, it must be installed/tightened into the valve cover.
Torque:
62 lb.in (7 Nm)

Position the engine appearance cover onto the engine with the grommets aligned with the studs.

Press down on the engine appearance cover at each grommet location to attach the grommets onto the studs.
-
Install the engine appearance cover nut.
Torque:
44 lb.in (5 Nm)

Removal
NOTICE:
Do not loosen or remove the crankshaft pulley bolt..
Adjustment
Cycle and park the rear window wiper.
Verify the rear wiper blade is positioned at the first defroster line located on the rear window glass.
If necessary, remove the rear wiper pivot arm and
reposition it to line up with the first defroster line located on the
rear window glass.
