Ford Escape: Engine Emission Control / Removal and Installation - Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Cooler Inlet Tube

Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

    • Remove the fasteners.
    • Remove the EGR cooler inlet tube, remove and discard the gaskets.

Installation

  1. Clean and inspect the gasket surface and the studs. Replace the studs if necessary.
    Torque: 159 lb.in (18 Nm)
    • Install the new gaskets.
    • Install the EGR cooler inlet tube, hand tighten them at this stage.
  1. Tighten in the sequence shown.
    Torque:
       1:   89 lb.in (10 Nm)
       2:   18 lb.ft (24 Nm)
       1:   18 lb.ft (24 Nm)
       3:   89 lb.in (10 Nm)
       4:   18 lb.ft (24 Nm)
       3:   18 lb.ft (24 Nm)
