Ford Escape: Front End Body Panels / Removal and Installation - Fender - Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV)

Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

  1. Remove the cowl panel grille.
    Refer to: Cowl Panel Grille (501-02 Front End Body Panels, Removal and Installation).
  1. Remove the charge port.
    Refer to: Charge Port - Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) (414-03B High Voltage Battery Charging System - Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV), Removal and Installation).
  1. Remove the headlamp assembly.
    Refer to: Headlamp Assembly (417-01 Exterior Lighting, Removal and Installation).
  1. Remove the bolts.
    Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)
  1. Remove the front door.
    Refer to: Front Door (501-03 Body Closures, Removal and Installation).
  1. Remove the bolt.
    Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)
  1. Remove the fender baffle.
  1. Remove the bolt.
    Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)
  1. Remove the bolts.
    Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)
  1. Remove the bolts.
    Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)
  1. Remove the fender.
  1. NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.

    If equipped
    Remove the fender insulation.

Installation

  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

    Master Access Code

    What Is the Master Access Code

    The master access code is a factory-set five-digit entry code. You can operate the keypad with the master access code at any time. The master access code is on the owner’s wallet card in the glove box and is available from an authorized dealer.

    Displaying the Master Access Code

    To display the factory-set code in the information display:

    Ford Escape. Master Access Code

    Remove the rubber mat. Insert the first programmed key in the backup slot. Press the push button ignition switch once and wait a few seconds. Press the push button ignition switch again and remove the key. Within 10 seconds, place a second programmed intelligent access key in the backup slot and press the push button ignition switch.
