Overview
The PATS deters the vehicle from theft by preventing the vehicle
from starting unless a programmed PATS key is in the ignition lock
cylinder.
PATS does not disable a vehicle that is already running.

This step is only necessary when installing a new component.
NOTE:
The PMI (programmable module installation) process
must begin with the current DSM (driver front seat module) installed. If
the current DSM (driver front seat module) does not respond to the
diagnostic scan tool, the tool may prompt for As-Built Data as part of
the repair.

NOTE:
Some regions have charging stations that engage a safety
latch, that positively locks the High Voltage charge cord to the vehicle
charge port until the latch is released. If this latch fails to
release, the cord cannot be removed without special action outlined in
the steps below.
