Ford Escape: Information and Entertainment System - General Information / Removal and Installation - Cellular Antenna Cable

Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

Telematics control unit (TCU) to body harness cable

  1. Remove the floor console.
    Refer to: Floor Console (501-12 Instrument Panel and Console, Removal and Installation).
  1. Remove the bolt and disconnect the electrical connectors.
    Torque: 40 lb.in (4.5 Nm)
  1. Remove the bolt, disconnect the electrical connectors and remove the TCU and bracket as an assembly.
    Torque: 40 lb.in (4.5 Nm)
  1. Disconnect the cellular phone antenna cable connector.

Body harness cable

  1. Remove the front door scuff plate trim panels.
    Refer to: Front Scuff Plate Trim Panel (501-05 Interior Trim and Ornamentation, Removal and Installation).
  1. Remove the front seats.
    Refer to: Front Seat (501-10A Front Seats, Removal and Installation).
  1. Remove the floor console.
    Refer to: Floor Console (501-12 Instrument Panel and Console, Removal and Installation).
  1. Remove the LH loadspace trim panel.
    Refer to: Loadspace Trim Panel (501-05 Interior Trim and Ornamentation, Removal and Installation).
  1. Remove the seatbelt buckles.
    Refer to: Front Seatbelt Buckle (501-20A Seatbelt Systems, Removal and Installation).
  1. Lower the headliner.
    Refer to: Headliner - Lowering (501-05 Interior Trim and Ornamentation, Removal and Installation).
  1. Position the floor carpet for access.
  1. Disconnect the cellular phone antenna cable connector.
  1. Disconnect the satellite/GPS antenna connector.

Installation

Telematics control unit (TCU) to body harness cable

  1. Cut the end off the cellular antenna cable.
  1. Disconnect the cellular phone in-line connector.

  1. Install the new coaxial cable.
    • Route the new cellular phone antenna cable following the routing shown.
    • Secure the new cellular phone antenna cable, as necessary, to prevent NVH concerns.

Body harness cable

  1. Cut the end off the cellular antenna cable.
  1. Cut the end off the satellite/GPS antenna connector.

  1. Install the new coaxial cable.
    • Route the new cellular phone antenna cable following the routing shown.
    • Secure the new cellular phone antenna cable, as necessary, to prevent NVH concerns.

All cellular antenna cables

  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
