Ford Escape: Handles, Locks, Latches and Entry Systems / Removal and Installation - Liftgate Release Handle

Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

1. Remove the liftgate trim panel.
   Refer to: Liftgate Trim Panel (501-05 Interior Trim and Ornamentation, Removal and Installation).
   

1. Disconnect the liftgate release switch electrical connector.
   

1. Remove the liftgate release handle bolts.
   Torque: 13 lb.in (1.5 Nm)

1. Release the retaining tabs and remove the liftgate release handle.
   Use the General Equipment: Interior Trim Remover

1. NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.

   
   Remove the liftgate release switch.
   
   1. Release the liftgate release switch retaining tabs.
      
   2. Remove the liftgate release switch.
      

Installation

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
