Ford Escape: Battery, Mounting and Cables / Removal and Installation - Low Voltage High Current Fuse - 2.5L Duratec – Hybrid (121kW/164PS) (BG)

Removal

  1. De-energize the High Voltage battery.
    Refer to: High Voltage System De-energizing (414-03A High Voltage Battery, Mounting and Cables, General Procedures).
  1. Disconnect the 12 volt battery.
    Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect (414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables, General Procedures).
  1. Release the tabs and battery junction box cover.
  1. Disconnect the battery junction box electrical connectors.
  1. Release the wire guide form the battery junction box.
  1. Release the tabs and remove the power distribution box from the bracket.
  1. Remove the power cable terminal cover.
  1. Remove the wire straps.
    1. Remove the nut.
      Torque: 106 lb.in (12 Nm)
    1. Remove the nuts.
      Torque: 40 lb.in (4.5 Nm)
  1. Disconnect the electrical connector and position aside the wire.
  1. Release the wire guide form the battery junction box.
  1. Remove the power cable terminal cover.
  1. Remove the nut and position aside the power cable.
    Torque: 106 lb.in (12 Nm)
    • Remove the bolt and washer.
      Torque: 93 lb.in (10.5 Nm)
    • Remove the battery junction box bracket retainers.
  1. Remove harness retainer under the battery junction box bracket and the bracket.
  1. Remove the nuts and the low voltage high current fuse.
    Torque: 106 lb.in (12 Nm)

Installation

  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
