Ford Escape: Engine Cooling / Removal and Installation - Thermostat Housing

Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

1. Drain the cooling system.
   Refer to: Engine Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding (303-03C Engine Cooling, General Procedures).
   

1. Detach the electrical wiring harness retainer.
   

1. Release the clamps and disconnect the coolant hoses.
   Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

1. Remove the studbolt and the thermostat housing.
   Torque: 35 lb.ft (47.5 Nm)

Installation

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
   

1. Fill and bleed the cooling system.
   Refer to: Engine Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding (303-03C Engine Cooling, General Procedures).
