DISASSEMBLY

Remove and discard the piston rings.
-

Remove and discard the piston pin retainers.
-
NOTE:
If the piston and connecting rod are to be
reinstalled, they must be assembled in the same orientation. Mark the
piston orientation to the connecting rod for reassembly.
Remove the piston from the connecting rod.

Inspect the piston and the connecting rod.
Refer to: Piston Inspection (303-00 Engine System - General Information, General Procedures).
ASSEMBLY

NOTE:
Align the piston-to-connecting rod orientation marks made during disassembly.
NOTE:
The arrow on the top of the piston points towards the front of the engine.
Align the piston-to-connecting rod orientation marks, and position the connecting rod in the piston.

Lubricate with clean engine oil and install the piston pin.

Install the piston pin retainers.

NOTE:
The piston compression upper and lower rings should
be installed with the paint mark on the outside diameter circumference
of the ring to be positioned on the right side of the ring gap. The
lower compression ring needs to be installed with the undercut side
downward.
NOTE:
The upper and lower compression ring gaps are not controlled for installation.

The master access code is a factory-set
five-digit entry code. You can operate the
keypad with the master access code at
any time. The master access code is on the
owner’s wallet card in the glove box and
is available from an authorized dealer.
Displaying the Master Access Code
To display the factory-set code in the
information display:

Remove the rubber mat.
Insert the first programmed key in the
backup slot.
Press the push button ignition switch
once and wait a few seconds.
Press the push button ignition switch
again and remove the key.
Within 10 seconds, place a second
programmed intelligent access key in
the backup slot and press the push
button ignition switch.
