Ford Escape: Body Closures / Removal and Installation - Power Liftgate Motor

Pick Hook

Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

  1. Remove the LH C-pillar trim panel.
    Refer to: C-Pillar Trim Panel (501-05 Interior Trim and Ornamentation, Removal and Installation).
  1. Disconnect the electrical connector and route the power liftgate motor electrical harness through the body.

  1. NOTICE: Support the liftgate before removing the power liftgate motor. Failure to follow this direction may result in damage to the components.

    Using a pick hook separate the clip and remove the power liftgate motor.
    Use the General Equipment: Pick Hook

Installation

  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  1. Carry-out the power liftgate initialization.
    Refer to: Power Liftgate Initialization (501-03 Body Closures, General Procedures).
