Battery and Cables

Vehicles are equipped with a 12-volt, maintenance-free battery. The battery is a 12V DC source connected in a negative ground system and is a voltage stabilizer for the 12V electrical system.

A battery monitoring sensor is attached to the negative battery cable and is serviced as an assembly and if equipped, a generator current sensor is attached to the generator B+ wire near the generator, refer to Component Description in section 414-00.

Ford Motor Company strongly recommends that all faulty lead-acid batteries be returned to an authorized recycling facility for disposal.
