Ford Escape: Fuel Tank and Lines / Removal and Installation - Fuel Tank Filler Pipe

Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation steps.

  1. Refer to: Gasoline and Gasoline-Ethanol Fuel Systems Health and Safety Precautions (100-00 General Information, Description and Operation).
  1. Disconnect the battery.
    Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect (414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables, General Procedures).
  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
    Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview (100-02 Jacking and Lifting, Description and Operation).
  1. Remove the LHR wheel and tire.
    Refer to: Wheel and Tire (204-04A Wheels and Tires, Removal and Installation).
  1. Remove the retainers and screws.
    Torque: 18 lb.in (2 Nm)
  1. Remove the retainers.
    • Detach the quick connectors.
      Refer to: Quick Release Coupling (310-00B Fuel System - General Information - 2.0L EcoBoost (177kW/240PS) – MI4, General Procedures).
    • Loosen the hose clamp.
      Torque: 35 lb.in (4 Nm)
  1. Detach the clips and position the drain hose aside.
    • Remove the bolts.
      Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)
    • Remove the fuel tank filler pipe from the vehicle.

Installation

  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
