Ford Escape: Climate Control System - General Information / Removal and Installation - Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Control Module

Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

1. NOTE: If installing a new HVAC module, it is necessary to upload the module configuration information to the scan tool prior to removing the HVAC module. This information must be downloaded into the new HVAC module after installation.

   If installing a new HVAC module, upload the configuration information from the HVAC module into the scan tool by following the scan tool on screen instructions.

1. Remove the floor console.
   Refer to: Floor Console (501-12 Instrument Panel and Console, Removal and Installation).

   Release the clips and remove the LH trim panel.
   
   • Disconnect the electrical connector.
     

1. Release the clips and remove the trim panel.
   

1. 
   Remove the bolts and the display unit.
   
   • Disconnect the electrical connector.
     Torque: 22 lb.in (2.5 Nm)

1. 
   Remove the bolts, release the clips and remove the center instrument panel trim panel.
   
   • Disconnect the electrical connector.
     Torque: 22 lb.in (2.5 Nm)

1. 
   Remove the bolts and the center HVAC register.
   
   • Disconnect the eelctrical connector.
     Torque: 22 lb.in (2.5 Nm)

1. Release the clips and remove the lower finsih panel.
   

1. 1. Release the stop and fully lower the glove compartment.
      
   2. Remove the glove compartment check strap.
      

1. Lift the glove compartment off the hinges remove.
   

1. Remove the bolts, release the clips and remove the glove box close out.
   Torque: 36 lb.in (4.1 Nm)

1. 
   Remove the bolts, release the clips and remove the lower trim panel.
   
   • Disconnect the electrical connectors.
     Torque: 22 lb.in (2.5 Nm)

1. Remove the screws and the climate control module.
   

Installation

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
   

1. If a new HVAC had been installed, download the HVAC configuration information from the scan tool to the new HVAC by following the scan tool on-screen instructions.
